Location
The project takes place at the Axarquía Hospital, located in Vélez-Málaga (Málaga), within the Axarquía region. The work corresponds to the extension of the hospital complex through the construction of two annex buildings for non-clinical uses.
Materials
For the execution of the project, PVC flooring was supplied and installed, using high-quality materials from the brands:
- Tarkett
- Gerflor
These floorings are specially designed for healthcare and high-traffic environments, offering properties such as durability, easy maintenance, hygiene and wear resistance.
Project description
The Axarquía Hospital has completed a major extension with the commissioning of two new annex buildings, whose main goal is not to directly increase the number of beds or consultation rooms, but to reorganize and optimize the hospital's spaces.
The new buildings house complementary services such as:
- Assembly hall
- Cafeteria
- Chapel
- Training classrooms
Moving these uses out of the main building frees up space for care activity, facilitating the expansion of areas such as Radiology, Gastroenterology or the day hospital, as well as the creation of a unit for chronic patients.
This work responds to the region's demographic growth and the need to modernize a hospital that had reached its functional limit. The extension improves the center's operational capacity and helps provide more efficient healthcare, especially during periods of high demand such as the summer season.
The project is also part of a wider strategy to renew healthcare infrastructure in Andalusia, aimed at improving the quality of care and reducing pressure on the healthcare system.
